About Fort Gordon

The Signal Corps at Fort Gordon, Georgia has a long history and is what the base is best known for in the Army. Other major units at Fort Gordon include the 15th Regimental Signal Brigade; Regimental Officer Academy; Regimental NCO Academy; Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center; 93rd Signal Brigade; 73rd Ordnance Battalion; and the 513th Military Intelligence Brigade.

The population at Fort Gordon consists of more than 11,000 active duty (including reservists), over 2,100 family members and almost 5000 civilians. There is a large commissary, exchange and a mall. No DODDS schools are physically on Fort Gordon with post and off-post students attending public schools in Richmond, Columbia or Aiken counties, or one of the private schools in the area.

There are plenty of recreational opportunities at Fort Gordon, with golf, bowling, horse stables, pools, gyms, recreation areas and much more. In addition, and minutes from the base is a large reservoir, Clarks Hill Lake with its own military waterfront recreation area. The lake is well known for its beauty as well as fantastic fishing opportunities that abound.

The communities in the surrounding counties to Fort Gordon offer unlimited variety and good quality of life. Tips For House Hunting in Georgia

FACT, GEORGIA IS A "BUYER BEWARE STATE"

In case you´re buying a home in Georgia, you should be aware that there are limits on the responsibility of the real estate agents. Sometimes, a buyer may incorrectly assume that the agent is "working for them" and is working in the buyers "best interest". This is ONLY the case if you have signed an "EXCLUSIVE Buyer Brokerage Agreement" form. If you did not sign this form you are all on your own and anything you say or do can be used against you by the agent to benefit themselves or their seller.

Sellers almost always sign an "EXCLUSIVE Right to Sell" Agreement when they list a house with a real estate brokerage. The broker at that point is working for the seller and has a contractual duty to protect them. Buyers in Georgia are not required by law to have a representation agreement with a real estate brokerage. If you are a buyer without this protection, you may not be provided with critical information that may assist in your decision as you make a huge financial commitment.
