Southwind village, one of Columbia County's newest neighborhood developments, is underway off of Hereford farm road, in Evans, Georgia. The neighborhood will have about 96 lots.

One of the builders in Southwind Village will be Wilson Parker Homes. They will have homes in the low $200,000 range up to mid $350,000. Square footage ranges from around 2,200 all the way up to 6,000 plus square feet.

Plant Vogtle is located just outside Waynesboro, Georgia in Burke County and is also a short drive to Hephzibah, Georgia in Richmond County. It is one of Georgia Powers two nuclear facilities in the Southern Company system that currently has two nuclear reactors in operation. These two nuclear reactor units began operation in the late 1980s and supply power to Southeast states.

Just last week (Nov. 21, 2013) concrete was poured for the new nuclear reactor unit number four also under construction along with unit three. Starbucks Plant in Augusta GA

 

Starbucks Coffee Co. manufacturing plant, the first tenant in the Augusta Corporate Park on Mike Padgett Highway remains on schedule for an early 2014 completion date.

Construction of the $172 million, 180,000-square-foot facility offers job opportunity for  more than 140 workers. An estimated 75% of the jobs include maintenance and engineering technicians, roasting operators, soluble process operators and packaging operators, 25% will be management and administrative staff.  The Aygusta plant will process green coffee beans and plans to produce a Starbucks product called VIA Ready Brew.

 For those of you who follow new home construction in the Augusta Georgia area, it's about to get very interesting. Although local builders have been hanging on through the somewhat slow times, a few new builders to our market have had an incredible impact.

 Battle lines are being drawn as the new homes are being built at a much lower cost and are loaded with upgrades previously out of reach to average consumers.
